What are trade investigations?

Trade investigations are procedures for protecting the domestic market from unfair or injurious imports. For a national producer they offer a way to defend against unfair competition, while for a foreign exporter or importer they mean the risk of additional duties that can be challenged or minimised. GOLAW represents the interests of both sides — Ukrainian producers as well as foreign exporters and importers — at every stage of the investigation.

    Both national producers (suffering injury from imports and seeking protection) and foreign exporters and importers (whose goods have come under investigation). We represent both sides.

  • What can be the outcome of an investigation?

    The application of additional duties or restrictive measures on imports. We help either to achieve the application of such measures or to defend against them.

  • Can the applied measures be challenged?

    Yes — through reviews and other available mechanisms. We support the challenging and review of trade measures.
