Managing Partner at GOLAW Valentyn Gvozdiy participated in the event organized by the World Economic Forum
On November 6-7, 2024, the World Economic Forum headquarters in Geneva hosted a landmark event that brought together representatives of business, NGOs and philanthropists united by a common goal — to find effective solutions to accelerate the global energy transformation.
The participants discussed key challenges of the modern energy sector, such as the development of renewable energy sources, infrastructure optimization, and the creation of stable energy systems capable of responding to the ever-growing demand for electricity.
One of the representatives of Ukraine at the event was Managing Partner at GOLAW Valentyn Gvozdiy, who represented Ukrhydroenergo as Chairman of the Supervisory Board. His participation in panel discussions and strategic discussions was important for promoting the Ukrainian vision of hydropower development.
The agenda highlighted the role of hydropower in ensuring the stability of energy supply. This industry is critically important for Ukraine as an element of the pan-European energy system. In particular, the prospects for using artificial intelligence to optimize processes and improve the efficiency of energy system management were discussed.
In addition to discussions, participants exchanged views on analytical reports published by the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the World Economic Forum. According to the World Energy Outlook 2024, global demand for electricity continues to grow, which requires urgent steps towards decarbonization. At the same time, the report “Fostering Effective Energy Transition 2024“ emphasizes the need for effective coordination between all stakeholders to implement innovative solutions.
The Forum has become a platform for discussing not only global trends but also specific actions required for Ukraine’s integration into the European energy community.
GOLAW is actively working in the energy sector, supporting key investment projects in the renewable energy sector. The company’s team is also involved in improving the regulatory environment within the framework of international initiatives, including the EUETH project, which contributes to the effective transformation of Ukraine’s energy sector.
