EGAP announces support for export insurance to Ukraine during its annual event in Prague

The Czech export credit company EGAP held its annual event, which brought together leading Czech financial institutions, as well as exporters and importers engaged in active trade between the Czech Republic and Ukraine. GOLAW’s partners traditionally took part in the partner event.

“The rebuilding of Ukraine will be the biggest project of the 21st century. And we will be there,” said David Havlíček, Chairman of the Board of EGAP.

In his speech, he reminded that last summer the insurance company had already launched the Ukraine Fund, which covers insurance of Czech exports to Ukraine. “We have supported more than a dozen business cases for CZK 300 million. Of these, 50 million have already been repaid. We are helping Ukraine and Czech exporters,” Havlicek added.

The insurance mainly covers the financing of transactions related to the agricultural sector, in particular, the purchase of agricultural machinery by Ukrainian farmers from Czech producers with loans provided by Czech financial institutions. These loans are insured by EGAP and certainly support the Ukrainian economy through export insurance in general.

David Havlíček noted that the Ukraine Fund allows for multiple use of lending opportunities, so there is still enough room to accept new insurance applications.
