GOLAW law firm organized a tree planting in the Kyiv Botanical Garden

On March 13, 2020, the GOLAW law firm organized a tree planting in the Botanical Garden named after Ukrainian academician Alexander Fomin. The event was attended by the firm’s clients, business partners and employees.

The date of the event wasn’t chosen accidentally: On March 21, in accordance with the decision of the UN General Assembly, International Day of Forests is celebrated worldwide. The purpose of the celebration is to support countries in organizing tree conservation activities.

There is no time and no sense to talk about the importance of protecting ecology and the environment: Everyone understands that it is a real need today. I hope that the GOLAW initiative will inspire other companies to come up with similar projects and to make their own contribution to the city’s development and environmental improvement

said Valentyn Gvozdiy, GOLAW Managing Partner.

The tree selected for planting is a giant thuja (also known as plicata). The plant is frost-resistant and is well-adapted to living in the city. Furthermore, if cultivated under favorable conditions, its height can reach up to 20 meters. Thuja can be given a “decorative haircut,” allowing it to be used in landscape compositions of any style. The plant also produces useful substances that have a tonic effect on the human body.

Today we not only improved the environmental conditions of the city, but also decorated the city’s outdoors. The Alexander Fomin Botanical Garden is a place people come to take a rest from the chaotic city and to enjoy nature. We really wanted to make our own contribution to the development of the garden, to make it more attractive. I am sure it is just the beginning: we will definitely come back to the garden with new projects

said Anastasiia Rydannykh, GOLAW Business Development Director.

The event’s guests also enjoyed a tour of the greenhouse, which is usually closed to the public. Tropical and subtropical plants have been grown there for many years, and the two-hundred-years-old Livistona palm tree, which has been growing there since the greenhouse was built is its particular pride.

It should also be mentioned that the tree-planting initiative is part of the GOLAW project “GO GREEN,” which includes a number of events aimed at improving the environment and protecting ecology.

We want to show that it is easy to do good deeds when there is a team that supports the idea and when this idea will improve people’s lives. You just need a strong desire to protect the environment, to improve your personal and public health, and not to deprive future generations of this opportunity. This is not the first time GOLAW has organized such an event and, I am sure, not the last time

said Alyona Temper, GOLAW Executive Director.

Breakfast and hot drinks were provided by the event partner, the catering company Best Event Catering.

GOLAW thanks all the guests for joining us.

See you soon!
