GOLAW Lawyers Introduced Schoolchildren to the Legal Profession
On November 29, in celebration of the firm’s 16th anniversary, GOLAW lawyers—Attorney Anastasia Nikolenko, Lawyer Natalia Matviychuk, and child psychologist and author Yulia Larina—met with students of Kyiv Specialized School No. 57 to talk about the legal profession and present the children’s book “Who Is a Lawyer?”
The renowned Ukrainian educator and philosopher Hryhorii Skovoroda once wrote about the importance of pursuing one’s true calling in life. The book “Who Is a Lawyer?” that we have published goes beyond simply introducing the world of law and legislation—it highlights the legal profession and underscores the importance of the rule of law for the existence of a strong state and a civilized society.
Today, we handed out copies of this book to fourth-grade students—a pivotal age when children begin to think more seriously about their future. I hope our book will inspire young readers to choose this noble profession, and that many of them will become skilled and successful lawyers working to protect the interests of Ukrainian citizens!

Managing Partner of GOLAW, Attorney
The book presentation was conducted in a conversational format: children were asked seemingly simple questions like “What is a law?” or “Who are lawyers?” and were encouraged to find the answers on their own, based on their own understanding of concepts and phenomena. Following this, GOLAW lawyers explained complex legal terms in simple language, using examples from everyday life and situations that would be relatable to schoolchildren.
Additionally, the speakers shared their personal experiences in choosing the legal profession and their impressions of their work, which was particularly engaging for students already contemplating their future careers. The lawyers emphasized the importance of receiving a quality education and studying diligently in school and university to achieve success in their profession.
The book “Who Is a Lawyer?” was published in 2019 by the law firm GOLAW. It is available for purchase in bookstores across Ukraine. More information can be found on the book’s official Facebook page or by sending an inquiry to events@golaw.ua.
