Why do foreign-to-foreign transactions require merger clearance in Ukraine?

On June 20, Oleksandr Melnyk, Partner and Head of the Corporate and M&A Practice at GOLAW, and Yevhenii Ahashkov, Senior Associate in the Corporate and M&A Practice at GOLAW, held a webinar on the SCG Legal platform on cases in which merger clearance in Ukraine is required, including for foreign-to-foreign transactions.

During the webinar, the speakers covered, among other things, the following matters:

  • in which cases is it necessary to obtain merger clearance;
  • when should merger clearance be obtained for foreign-to-foreign transactions;
  • what penalties apply in the event of failure to obtain clearance;
  • what are the timelines and procedure for obtaining merger clearance.

The lawyers also shared practical advice that may be useful during the clearance process.

This webinar will be relevant for both domestic and foreign clients conducting business in Ukraine.
